This is the gorgeous view we had every morning during breakfast. That's the same location where my hubbs Joe and I got married 3 years ago - on 7 mile beach in Jamaica. We said our vows right there under that arch on the beach:
This is the scrumptious fresh fruit our son Joey couldn't get enough of; papaya, watermelon and pineapple:
And take a look at this yumminess which followed the fruit every morning. I could eat this everyday for the rest of my life. Grilled snapper with onions, scrambled eggs, cheese, and hash browns:
And after breakfast we played on the beach. This is Joey fascinated with the sand:
And here's Joey playing with his sand castle set for the first time. He loved that little bucket! I love how his pants matched the ocean and also matched his little beach toys. I didn't even realize that until we were snapping pix on the beach.
Where did I get those awesome handmade pants that our little 17 month old son is wearing? The fab little striped pants with the cute little elephants on the bottom? I made them! :D
Joey's wearing a pair of my new pants entitled "Ankle Biters". They'll soon be available in my Etsy shop - they'll be available for for both boys and girls, and for both babies and toddlers too.
This particular pair are the "Cabana Striped Ankle Biters". Featured at the bottom of each leg of the pants is the cutest elephants fabric, imported from Japan - full of super cute kawaii fabric goodness.
Yes I know that Cabana Striped fabric is all summery and beachy-looking...probably because it matches the ocean and all the little sand castle toys - heehee - and yes I do realize we're in October now...but the fabric is definitely perfect for a beach vacation. And if you'd like a pair of those pants - and if it's chilly in your neck of the woods you know I'll hook you up with the fab fabrics for the Fall and Winter months. No worries, mon. (Yep...the "vacation-is-over" denial is still pretty strong around here.)
Here's another shot of our son Joey - in this one he's discovering jumbo leaves on the beachfront patio in Jamaica.
And now for some more handmade pimpin'...because in that photo Joey's is also wearing his "Make Love Not War" mixed-media onesie that I made for him, which is also available in my shop.
And here's Joey rooster-watching. Every morning Joey woke up earlier than that rooster. And everyday he would follow it all around the gardens.
I also made Joey those red and white pants which match one of my hair scarves made with the same Amy Butler fabric from her Lotus line. This particular pair of Ankle Biters also has some super cute Mother Goose fabric at the bottom of each leg, which I imported from Japan. This pair features Little Boy Blue blowing his horn - he's such a cute little shepherd boy herding his sheep.
Here's a close up - how awesome is this fabric?
And another photo of us:
Here we are in front of a mom and pop restaurant on the beach which was right next door to our resort and had the most amazing Jamaican food ever. We had jerk chicken, grilled snapper with rice and beans cooked in coconut milk, grilled breadfruit, and collar greens and fresh vegetables.
While we ate we were lucky enough to have a very talented local musician entertain us thru our dinner. Saying this older gentleman "entertained" us doesn't do him any justice - he didn't simply entertain us, he offered cultural sounds to my young son, his lyrics were full of knowledge and experience, and he blessed us with his music. He was a salt and pepper haired rastafarian who was a one-man-band, he sung the most beautiful native Jamaican songs full of faith, peace, and love. While he sung he also played a drum which appeared to be handmade from bamboo.
Here's Joey playing peek-a-boo with his Dada, and me taking a photo thru a foggy lens:
I really like the way the photo came out. Oh, and the pants? Those are Joey's "Goldfish in a Bag Ankle Biters."
Joey loved the beach so much! We had so many adventures together everyday.
Take a look at him here, running for the water with his hands straight up in the air!
Here's my son and I sharing a kiss.
Can you blame me for having vacation-is-over denial?
